"But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint, nor become tired."
I have just recently had another birthday and have entered my 70th year. Wondering where the years have gone, I look in the mirror and think where did my little waist go. I remember the old timers saying "Now you have reached your 3 score and 10 you can go home to heaven soon". But I'm not going anywhere yet. One of my beautiful friends told me "God is so gracious, we have years of His goodness and mercies in front of us."
I received lots of birthday best wishes, and something very special. I love sugarsnaps peas and eating them straight from the garden is best. My next door neighbours have a great vegie garden and jokingly I said to them, "When those peas are ready I'd love some." Well, my dear neighbours came on my birthday (they didn't know my date of birth) with a big packet of peas. When they left I started eating the peas like lollies, and as I did I heard the voice of the Lord say "I knew you would enjoy them". Those peas are the best birthday present I've ever received, better than expensive jewels or big bunches of roses.
As I enter into another decade of life, the Father has been speaking to me about the river of life. I got my bible out and started reading Ezekiel 47 again. Then last Sunday at church I attended the evening service, an incredibly beautiful and anointed worship which led into spiritual warfare and after which we were invited to all come up to the front "to the water" for a time of prayer.
When I got home the Lord reminded me of a time years ago when I was in church and experienced feeling water all around me, like I was physically in water. I asked "Why am I remembering this?". He said "Remember it was like being in a wave. Your dad would take you out into the deep and he taught you how to catch the waves in. You trusted him to take care of you. Remember how your little feet couldn't touch the bottom and you thought you were caught in a rip. DO NOT FEAR . I AM in control. I want you to go out into the deep. There will be many different waves I want you to catch but you must not be afraid."
I think we are on the cusp of a wave (the beginning of a tidal wave of the Spirit) which is going to wash all over our nation. I want to be ready to ride it all the way in.
I love the old gospel songs with lyrics about the water. African Americans sing a song "Wade in the Water" about the Israelites crossing the Jordan River, reminding those seeking freedom to walk in the river along their journey so tracking dogs and slave catches could not follow footprints or their scent.
Another song I love is called "Down To The River To Pray". I invite you to jump in to the water. Let every thing that hinders you go, don't let unforgiveness, fear or sin hold you back.
