"It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His (tender) compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness."
I have heard it said that kindness is an eagerness to put others at ease. Also that it is a sweet and attractive temperament that shows friendly regard. These were the qualities I saw in my mother. People would say that they felt so comfortable in her company and she was kind to all.
Simple acts of kindness can prove to be very rewarding. There can be many moments in the day when we can show kindness to others. I find just being aware of what is happening around me I often have an opportunity to be kind to someone who may need help. I remember I came across a lady who was lost in a shopping centre. She was alone and couldn't remember the way out. I was able to assist her and helped her find her way home. She was so very grateful and thankful. Often I'm rushing to where I need to be and can miss what is going on just in front of me.
We are told in the bible that exercising this brotherly affection (kindenss) develops Christian love. In Jeremiah it says that "the Lord practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord." Also in Deuteronomy 7:9, "Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments." This blessing on my life I can pass on to others. I want to be used by God to touch peoples lives.
